WHAT: Presented by Northern Virginia-based Chris4Life Colon Cancer Foundation and sponsored by StopColonCancerNow.com, Scope It Out 5K is a run/walk to raise awareness about colon cancer and raise funds for colon cancer research.

One of the more than 700 physicians partnered with StopColonCancerNow.com, she regularly performs colonoscopies and is a specialist in gastrointestinal health and nutrition as well as GI cancer screening and prevention.

WHY: Colon cancer is the second deadliest form of cancer in the United States and 80 
  percent of colon cancer patients have no prior family history. However, when colon 
  cancer is detected and treated in the earliest stage, the five-year survival rate is 90 
  percent.
