Exercise Benefits Colon Cancer Survivors

Older couple runningIf you’ve been treated for colon cancer, getting plenty of exercise may be more important now than ever.

Research shows that survivors can reduce their risk of cancer recurring by as much as 50 percent by exercising. This doesn’t mean making trips to the gym, walking has been shown to be an effective method of exercise.

The benefits of exercise are also known to help reduce the risk of colon cancer.

Just like when trying to lose weight, the key to exercising to prevent colon cancer is to formulate a plan and then stick to it. Exercising regularly is much more beneficial to you than just taking a “hit or miss” approach. Experts say that you should attempt to get in a half-hour of moderate exercise at least five days a week, or 20 minutes of more intense exercise at least three days a week.
