Larger-Than-Life Colon Exhibit Tours the Country
It’s not often you get to literally walk through a larger-than-life-sized colon, but that’s exactly what Nashville residents were able to do when the Super ColonTM exhibit made a pit stop in Music City. The traveling health exhibit treated Nashvillians to an interactive look at the inside of a colon and what affect various diseases, including Crohn’s disease and colon cancer, have on the organ.
The inflatable, 20-foot Super ColonTM, the brain child of the Prevent Cancer Foundation, aims to get the message across that colon cancer, the third leading cancer killer in the country, is preventable, treatable and beatable. The horseshoe-shaped display begins with a look at a healthy colon, and as participants weave through the remainder of the exhibit, they see what various digestive diseases look like, such as Crohn’s disease and colitis. The exhibit ends with an up close and personal look at colon polyps and colon cancer, including a finale with polyp-juggling performers.
The Super ColonTM will be traveling cross-country throughout the year, so don’t miss your chance to see firsthand what your colon looks like! Click here to see if the Super ColonTM will make a stop near you.
